Pleister Project

translated, the plaster project

The family unit is the building block of the community and the community is a reflection of the family unit - one cannot present any kind of intervention with children or youth without addressing the needs of the family unit.  Due to the disintegration of family values and principles within this community, the entire structure of the community is falling apart.  The family and community life need repair and restoration.

Just as a plaster offers immediate relief for pain or discomfort, the Pleister-Project aims to alleviate challenging situations.  However, often by the time a situation comes to our attention the wounds have already become deep cracks in the lives of those affected and require plastering to reconstruct and restore those lives.

For this reason the Foundation has partnered with other stakeholders Langeberg Substance Abuse Group, Touching Hearts, Elijah House Ministries and the Department of Social Development who lead the way regarding the implementation and facilitation of various programmes which is especially done with the focus on establishing relationships with families and individuals at risk aiming to restore family life in the community.

The Foundation focuses specifically on parents of the toddlers in the Foundation's Lammeroes-Projek are especially focused on in order to capture the parents' interest at an early stage in their child's development.  Many of the parents take great pride in their development which of course, has a positive impact on the development of their children and creates an environment which is more conducive to nurturing their child throughout their educational process.  All of this is done in order to raise children who can take on the challenges that life will present to them.
